Roma - A Truly Brilliant Film

The Mrs and I sat down and watched this last night on Netflix.
I don't think I have ever seen a film that made me want to watch it again so much, go to the cinema to see it on the big screen and replayed scenes over and over in my head.
It is truly a mesmerizing experience to see this film unfold.
Has anybody else seen it? if so what do you think?

Joe C, I agree Children of Men was good, enjoyed that, had a good interesting story and stuff happened, which was all missing in Roma.

Don't need netflix to watch this film as it's free online, didn't think much of it personally.

I didn’t think it quite lived up to the hype personally. Beautifully shot, and several great moments, it didn’t leave me wowed as a whole.
There were some stunning scenes (that hospital operating room one, jesus) but I do kind of agree with the above.
Very good but don't think I'd call it an instant modern classic.

I didn’t think it quite lived up to the hype personally. Beautifully shot, and several great moments, it didn’t leave me wowed as a whole.
I do wish I’d have seen it on the big screen though, I’m sure I’d have enjoyed it a lot more. That’s one of the problems with Netflix produced films - they only seem to get a limited run in cinemas and it’s tempting to take the easy option and watch it on the telly instead.

It's looks stunning... nothing much happens but it owes a huge debt to Tokyo Story and other Japanese films from the post war period and beyond... it's about contemplation and observation...the small details...less is more and all that

I like his films (Children of Men especially is superb), but this was just plain boring

Have heard good things
I want to see it but don’t have Netflix
I believe it had a short cinema release via Curzon in the UK in December when I was away but am sure I will find it somewhere
